A funeral plan is an easy way to arrange the funeral you want in advance. It allows you to specify your wishes and pay for the funeral director's services included in your plan. As customers often tell us, that can bring peace of mind to you and your family.
A plan from Golden Charter also includes an allowance towards third party costs. These are essential, non-funeral director services such as the cremation or burial fees, plus the minister or officiant's fee to perform the service. The value of the allowance included in your plan may grow over time. There will only be more to pay at the time of the funeral if the third party costs exceed the allowance when you buy your plan, or if the costs increase by more than the growth of your plan.
Everyone has different needs when it comes to funeral planning, so we make sure the plans we offer are as flexible as possible. Is the money safe?
Yes. Funds for Golden Charter plans are held in a ring-fenced trust, separate from the company, and are FCA-regulated.
What if I move house?
Your plan moves with you. We can transfer it to a participating funeral director near your new home, or arrange for us to travel if you prefer.
Can I change my mind?
Yes. There is a 30-day cooling-off period for a full refund, and you can cancel later subject to a small administration fee.
What does it cost?
Plans start from a few thousand pounds and can be paid in a single payment or by monthly instalments. We will set out all costs clearly before you commit.
What does it cover?
All of our work as your funeral director, the coffin, the hearse, the staff on the day, and the third-party fees we are able to fix at today's prices.
Do I need to decide everything now?
Not at all. You can record as much or as little detail as you wish, and you are welcome to update your wishes whenever you like.
